Olympic Club's First Six Holes Garnering Scary Reputation at 2012 U.S. Open


The first six holes at The Olympic Club, the site of the 2012 U.S. Open, have been the overwhelming topic of the days leading up to the season’s most mentally and physically challenging tournament.
            It seemed like whenever the topic was brought up to the world’s best this week, it was followed by the words “difficult,” “test” or “challenge.”

Casey Martin Surprised to be at U.S. Open, Calls The Olympic Club a “Huge Challenge”


Casey Martin said he had not played a single 18-hole round in the nine days leading up to sectional qualifying for the 2012 U.S. Open.  After back-to-back rounds of 69, he is heading back to The Olympic Club – arguably the toughest U.S. Open test in recent memory.

San Francisco Giants: Pablo Sandoval's Troubles More Serious Than They Appear

It has not been a good week for San Francisco Giants third baseman Pablo Sandoval.  Although he began his rehab stint with Single-A San Jose over the weekend, he was questioned by police on his involvement in a sexual harassment case in Aptos, was called out by his own manager and was deemed not ready to return to the team as scheduled.

San Francisco 49ers: Jim Harbaugh Calls Peyton Manning Rumors "Silly and Untrue"

Jim Harbaugh went out of his way on Wednesday to set the record straight on the San Francisco 49ers and the offseason Peyton Manning rumors.

The 49ers were reportedly "flirting" with the idea of having Manning become a part of their team before the Denver Broncos acquired him this past offseason.

San Francisco 49ers: Tarell Brown's Bold Interception Prediction Is Not Bold At All

It was a reality check for the San Francisco 49ers and everybody watching the NFC Championship when 49ers cornerback Tarell Brown was hurt in a collision with the ultra-aggressive safety Dashon Goldson.  Brown left the game with head and neck injuries and the 49ers went on to lose the game to the New York Giants.

San Francisco Giants: Re-Signing Melky Cabrera Will Not Be Easy

It is pretty obvious at this point that the San Francisco Giants have put re-signing Melky Cabrera at the top of their priority list.

He has been one of the biggest surprises of the baseball season so far, and easily the best offseason acquisition for the Giants this season.  Cabrera currently owns the National League's highest batting average (.376), and is also the MLB's leader in hits this season (75).

Jon Beason Responds to 49ers QB Alex Smith's Comment on Panthers' Cam Newton

San Francisco 49ers' quarterback Alex Smith may have barked up the wrong tree when he took his stance on the yards per game category in the NFL.  It was not his stance on the subject that was the problem, but who he cited as the main culprit of the statistic.
