Report: Peyton Manning Worked Out For 49ers This Week

In the saga that is Peyton Manning's next destination, a new team has arisen as a possible sleeper to acquire the future Hall of Fame quarterback.

ESPN's Chris Mortensen is reporting that the 49ers worked out Manning this past week, and he took a physical, as well.

Manning has not visited the 49ers' facilities.

Up until now, the front-runners to land Manning were the Denver Broncos and Tennessee Titans.  Because of the time at which this is occurring, the 49ers are assumed to be a viable contender to acquire Manning.

This report about Manning and the 49ers surfaces as free agent quarterback Alex Smith is reportedly not happy with San Francisco's contract offer.
